Item information does not show for some items after import (but correct in bibliography output)

I have an odd problem.
Using ris import from procite, the items appear to import successfully.
but as I click on items in the middle panel, some number of items (roughly 1/3 of the 130 mostly pubmed items) do not show any information in the right panel (still displaying the information for a previous item).
If you export a bibliography from those items, the item information is present & correct.

deleted and reimported several times w. and w.o. notes/abstracts.
no obvious strange characters or fields in ris file
Tried re-exporting and importing the collection as rdf within zotero- same issue
[zotero 2.0b6.3 not sure if belongs in zotero 2 discussion]

this sounds more like a display than an import error - if the citation is correct than Zotero has the right data.
As a wild guess I'd try what happens if you disable your other extensions. Obviously you have restarted FF?
Which FF and OS are you using?

Edit: for known incompatible plugins see here,
    http://www.zotero.org/support/known_issues#incompatible_extensions_and_applications
but even if you don't have one of those, make sure to test!
  • tried disabling every extension (except zotero) no chg

    FF 3.5.1, vista ultimate sp1

may be a display problem but I have quite a lot of collections collected directly from pubmed etc. and have never had this problem other than this first time I tried importing w. an RIS file from one of my old procite d.b.

If possible, send in an error report using Report Errors under the gear menu after the problem occurs and post the Report ID here.

generated after clicking on a normally displaying item and then on one where the item info does not display. not absolutely sure if that is the way to generate the relevant error report.
Here is another one-generated the same way but which I think referred to a different line # in the javascript but o/w referring to the same "itembox.xml".

  • RIS file in question can be viewed
    http://www-personal.umich.edu/~thofer/ris/Q5-Reliability-toZotero.ris
  • This is now fixed in the latest dev build, but the real issue is the numbers in the UR fields in the RIS file. The UR field is meant for URLs, but ProCite (if that's where this file is from) appears to be putting in PubMed IDs. (PubMed IDs are valuable, and there should be a PMID field, but they shouldn't be saved to the URL field. If this is common, we could probably automatically migrate eight-digit numbers from the URL field to a new PMID field once it exists.)

The fix will be available in the next beta.
  • OK, in case it is helpful, I just experimented with an empty new database.

If you import records into procite (the final, aging version 5.0.3) using their built-in pubmed search(tools>pubmed search), and then export using the ris-endnote style (as suggested for import to zotero) the PMIDs are inserted into the UR field.

So I guess it would be fairly common.

In fact now I remember, when you clicked on an open-link button it used the pmid like a url and opened the pubmed citation.
