adding references in word doc table

My references became unlinked in my word document without any error message or indication (other than my noticing that the reference numbers were not changing even as I added new references). After some online troubleshooting I saw a post suggesting I take the linked references out of my table, and this ended up working. I am working on a new document now, and want to include references in a table on the word document -- has this error been fixed? Does inserting references in a table still cause the document's references to glitch? Thank you.

    Are you using Word or LibreOffice? References in tables usually work fine in Word, but not always in LibreOffice.
