Second citation

Hi
In the visual editor, how do I make the subsequent citations include both authors? That is:
First citation (Smith & Doe 2020)
Second and all subsequent citations (Smith & Doe 2020)

As it is now, the subsequent citation reads (Smith 2020)
  • Which style did you base it on?

Without seeing the code, probably the style is using a different author macro for subsequent citations. You could change that to the main author macro used for the initial citation.

But if it has the same format why not just get rid of the subsequent stuff?

You can also share your code by uploading it to PasteBin or such and then sharing the link here. More information, better help.
  • Thanks. And how do I find and delete the macros for the subsequent citations? In the visual editor, that is.
  • Impossible to say without you answering the two other questions above:

Which style did you base it on?

  • It's based upon the American Journal of Political Science

Dont't know if this works, but here's a pastebin link to the copied code: https://pastebin.com/tF3JW7Yt
  • I'm surprised this would give you the 2nd citation as you have it, but try removing
    et-al-subsequent-min="6" et-al-subsequent-use-first="1"
  • thank you, that worked! I spent hours trying to fix it, so it is much appreciated!
