Error after starting --> ID 2088800009

I am using a kubuntu system and never had any issue with zotero so far. I quit the program in the usual way and upon restart the following error occurred:

"An error occurred. Please restart Zotero" posted in the middle of the window of the library list.

However, the result is always the same. I transmitted the error protocol which also stated to open the discussion in order to get it resolved.

You're getting various errors from the Better BibTeX plugin, likely because you're on an outdated version of Zotero (5.0.74). Update to the current version.
  • Thank you. Solved.
  • I've seen a number of such reports in the past days. BBT is at least also incompatible with 5.0.77, but given how BBT interacts with Zotero, I can realistically only support the latest release of Zotero. Anything that works beyond that is a happy coincedence.

But wouldn't Zotero have usually prompted for an upgrade from 5.0.74 long ago? Where does Zotero perform that check BTW?
  • They're just Linux users, presumably using a third-party package that doesn't use the official updater.
  • The main culprit for that would then still likely be me :) but the debs are up to date.
  • I think there are some other packages out there that aren't from you, though I don't know the specifics. (The Snap is up to date, I believe.) @georg.fahland, do you recall how you originally installed the Zotero version that ended up out of date?
