That said, I have set up a testing repository (https://github.com/denismaier/csl-turabian9-fullnote; see also https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/issues/3496); the result was that 13 tests pass, 12 fail, but the failing tests are actually also wrong for CMoS 17, the rules and expected formatting are the same in either case. (So we will have that fix that in CMoS anyway.)
You suggest you just use CMoS for now, and switch to Turabian once that is available.
The most striking difference will be linespacing in the bibliography, but you can also just use styles in your word processor to get the correct results.
