Quickcopy select does not fix my drag and drop problems

Hi,

I'm having trouble dragging items to my left pane collections and I've been trying a variety of ways of twiddling with the quickcopy setting in preferences in order to get it working.

I've tried:

selecting American Psychological association
selecting Harvard
selecting HTML
not selecting HTML

closing off the browser after making one of the above changes
not closing off the browser before testing

none of the above works.

Is there any other fix? All my searches reveal this one fix and it hasn't fixed the problem.

    What OS, Firefox version, and Zotero version? If possible, send in an error report via Report Errors under the gear menu after trying to drag and post the Report ID here.

    Are you unable to drag any items to any collection, or only some to some?

    I've discovered the problem and I'm just putting this in here for others who have this issue to see.

    The problem is there is a 10 SECONDS delay in the drag and drop (that doesn't occur in other applications) so it looks like drag and drop isn't working, but if I simply just keep holding down the mouse button for the 10 seconds, the cursor then changes to the 'drag' cursor (arrow with dotted square) and I can drop the item.

    This is why the fix mentioned above 'didn't work': because the problem is there's a delay, not that drag and drop isn't working entirely!

    Operating System: Windows XP Professional
    Firefox: 3.0.11
    Zotero: 2.0b5

    How many items are you trying to drag? Because of the way drag-and-drop works in Firefox, Zotero has to generate bibliographic or export content regardless of where you're dropping it. (We might be able to have it not start generating bibliographic content until after the drag begins, which is the way the export modes work already, but a large drag might still hang the UI and prevent you from dropping onto a collection. You could test this with export mode.) It should be pretty much instantaneous if you're only dragging a few items, but it could be longer if you're dragging more. You can set the limit to skip the bibliography/export step in the prefs.

    The upcoming new CSL processor might also speed this up a bit, though it's too early to know for sure.

    Does the same thing happen for the second item you try (in a given Firefox session)?

    Also, not that I expect it to help with this, but be sure to upgrade to the latest beta of Zotero 2.0—you're still on 2.0b5.
