Cannot save and read files on Zotero. Report ID: 1420465944

I installed Zotero on my macbook and imac. The imac version works well so far, but the macbook version doesn't. I tried to add and open files through Zotero, but it didn't work at all. Here is the error code that I got.

    Can you provide a Debug ID (different from a Report ID) for receiving this error, and also explain exactly what you're doing when it happens?

    I'm trying to save files from website to zotero, but it shows "x open-access pdf". When I check my zotero, I only can find the item's name, but I cannot find its file, which is pdf document. So I'm trying to add the pdf document manually. However, I couldn't drag the downloaded pdf docuemtn to zotero neither.

    I also tried to open the pdf documents that I added at Zotero before, but I cannot open them anymore.

    This problem is only happen when I use Zotero on my macbook. I deleted Zotero from my macbook and reinstall it. But the problem is still there.

    Is your Zotero data directory in the default location on your local disk, or is it in some sort of special folder (cloud storage folder, etc.)? Have you used a symlink or anything unusual like that? (If you don't know what that means, you almost certainly haven't.)

    If you look in the 'storage' subdirectory of your Zotero data directory, do you see anything unusual — anything other than various folders with 8-character names?

    For some reason Zotero is getting an error that a folder already exists when it goes to create a directory that definitely shouldn't exist.

    The data directory is defult data directory. I just checked my data storage folder, and it shows that "the operation cannot be completed because the original item for "storage" cannot be found." The folder doesn't look like a folder, it looks like a pice of paper instaed.

    Yeah, so there's something very strange happening in your data directory. You didn't answer my question above, but this could happen if you tried to symlink/alias the 'storage' directory to somewhere else and the other location has since been moved or deleted.

    In any case, you'll need to delete that broken 'storage' alias manually to fix this.

    I didn't symlink/alias the "storage" directory to somewhere else. So far, all my setting is defualt setting.

    Well, something happened in your filesystem to cause 'storage' to be something other than a standard folder. Zotero can't even create an alias on its own. You'll need to fix that manually.
