Articles only save as websites - no PDFs or metadata

Hi,
Up until now everything has been working awesome. Today tho I've been trying to get some more papers from J-store and Sage and what zotero does is just save the webpage when I use the connector. So i get the website, link etc where before I used to get the full paper when available plus all info straight into the library. When in google scholar I no longer get the pop up option to chose which article I want, it just saves the search. Any idea what this could be?

    Thanks! I'll check it out. It's confusing tho it changed like this overnight, no clue why. It used to work flawlessly for years

    One alternative is to save the PDF locally and drag it into Zotero. Zotero will automatically scan for the metadata and populate the fields in your library. This is what I do when the Zotero button isn't working right on a site.

    For Google Scholar, the best thing to do is simply to click through to the publisher site and save from there.

    This doesn't work for many sites, e.g., Frontiers, Brain... Why did Zotero change this functionality? Also, where did the folder icon option go, specifically when using Google Scholar searches. Very frustrating.

    What doesn't work?

    We didn't change anything. The two links I provided above tell you how to debug this. If the problem is confined to Google Scholar, it's due to rate limits on Google Scholar.

    If you're saying that saving isn't working from many sites, there's a more general problem with your installation and you should see the first link I provided above.

    Clicking through to the publisher doesn't work--the paper icon only allows me to save the website with snapshot. I tried both fixes above--neither worked for me. I used to see a folder icon in my toolbar, which allowed me to check items in a Google Scholar search. Now, I only see the paper icon which again, gives me the option of saving the website with snapshot (not saving the actual citation). I am able, at some publisher sites (e.g., Frontiers), to export the .ris and then import it to the standalone Zotero. But this is a pain.

    Right, so as I say, if you're getting a webpage icon on multiple supported sites, it's almost certainly a general problem with your installation and you should follow the troubleshooting steps in full and follow up with the requested information in a new thread — not this one. You haven't followed the steps in full, since they specifically request additional information to let us help you further.

    Zotero definitely still shows the folder icon on Google Scholar when things are working properly, but start with the other issue, since the issue on Google Scholar may just be rate limiting.
