Deleting entries from a collection,subcollection,etc. does not remove from library

I find that only if i delete from the top level library view does the item get removed from all views. if i delete from a sub view, it remains in my library. Any thoughts if this is a bug?

    This is by design.

    Collections contain only references to items stored in the Library, and removing an item from a collection removes only the reference, not the main item. To delete an item from your Library from within a collection, right-click and select
    "Delete Selected Item from Library..."

    Is there any way to identify "orphaned" references, that is references that do not belong to any collection?

    I'd suggest an option in preferences for "My Library" displaying all the items at once (as it is now) or just the uncategorized (belonging to no collection). "My Library" would then serve as an inbox and I wouldn't have to sort by added date every time I want to clean up my database...
