Upgrade StorageDOIs from Zenodo not recognized

When I try to add an item with a zenodo DOI, the DOI isn't recognized.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Start Zotero.
2. Click on “Add item by identifier"
3. Add any DOI from zenodo.org (e.g. 10.5281/zenodo.3518997)
4. Item won't be found.
Zotero displays the message 'Zotero konnte keinen Eintrag für den angegeben Identifier finden. Bitte überprüfen Sie den Identifier und versuchen Sie es erneut.' in the middle pane.
Would be glad if someone has an idea why.

Any fix that doesn't come from datacite would be quite hack-ish and we're trying to avoid that.
