unable to retrieve backedup files after reimaging

The IT department at my institution reimaged my Dell PC to address unrelated performance issues. They backed up files, including Zotero files, which were saved to C:\Users\\\appdata\local\Zotero.

I have followed the directions given at https://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data#restoring_your_zotero_data_from_a_backup1 .

However, the backed up files are not loading. We think the issue may be that the zotero.sqlite file was not pulled for backup along with all the files that (I assume) contain the actual entries. Loading a new version of Zotero and changing the Data Directory Location has not helped.

Any suggestions gratefully appreciated.
  • Because that's not the data directory — it's the profile directory, and it doesn't contain your data.

    (And if you pointed the data directory in the Zotero installation to the profile directory, you should change that back to the default location and delete any 'zotero.sqlite' file created in the profile directory, because that's wrong and will be confusing later.)
