Zotero addCitation from external program

Hello.

Is it possible to call "addCitation" method using Zotero JavaScript API? It's too convenient elements selecting method in Zotero Word plugin as it's seen on picture below: https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/20151051/63648665-baa6c400-c73b-11e9-911e-84b4b4f1f409.png. Can I call this window and get chosen elements data?

You can if you either implement the zotero wire protocol, or implement it in a plugin. One plugin that does the latter (by me) is BBT. More info on that at http://retorque.re/zotero-better-bibtex/citing/cayw/

And to be clear, you can install the BBT plugin and use it to call up Zotero Citation window for any program, not just when writing in LaTeX.

Thank you for your answers, I have found all what I searched:

This is a plugin for Atom editor provides LaTex and Markdown citations in text editor. I hope it will be useful for someone else.

Which uses BBT in exactly this way. It won't work without BBT.
