I use a variety of programs to write papers as well as creative writing, which don't have a Zotero plug-in like Word or Open office for example yWrite.

Rather than trying to create a plug-in for everything, is there a way of assigning a "quick reference" to your references (eg. alot of people write "ref Name" in text before the final adding of references) that when you actually open your writing in a compatible program, Zotero can be run to pick up and insert the relevant reference or automatically open a dialogue box to query unclear references?

This would also help when text has been copied across from other computers which don't have the same references saved, rather than stating "ref doesn't exist, would you like to delete it" it would be good if it could see that a similar ref was actually available in Zotero.
