Create reference for link or attachment?

Is there a way to create a reference from a link? I have created a series of links to pdfs in Zotero, and would like to be able to right-click (or something) and have that link attached to a new reference.

So far, I've been keeping zotero open in two windows, and have been creating a new reference for one, and drag the link from the other onto that reference in order to link the pdf to that reference...

    There is no way to generate a reference from a link. If you willing to store a copy of your PDFs in Zotero you can use the Zotero's detect PDF metadata function to create items for your PDFs.
