Yellow triangle, "There was an error loading Zotero" with a certain library

Hello,

For some reason, a library that used to work before I changed to 2.0 now gets the yellow triangle at work. This library is stored at my work network folder. At home, I access the directory that contains the Zotero files using VPN -- and Zotero is working fine, accessing the Zotero directory (I:\Zotero) fine.

At work, although I can get to the directory okay, my Zotero at work is having problems. Whenever I change the location of the files in settings to the default Firefox profile directory, Zotero starts no problems. However, the moment I change it to I:\Zotero, my network folder, the yellow triangle appears after Firefox is restarted.

I can't get the report id because Zotero isn't even functioning when the error occurs. This is the best I could do, following the advanced instructions:

Error: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED) [mozIStorageService.openDatabase]" nsresult: "0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/db.js :: anonymous :: line 1032" data: no]
Source File: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/zotero.js
Line: 299

and the messages after opening a few tabs and trying to get Zotero to open up:

Error: Zotero.Proxies.proxies.slice is not a function

Line: 1317

  • I couldn't tell you why you're getting that error, but you're not the first to get it on a network drive. Best bet: restart your computer, close Firefox, delete compreg.dat and xpti.dat in your Firefox profile directory, and try again.
  • This worked brilliantly, thanks for pointing me in that direction. Quite often, the common solution doesn't work for me and it's great to have something so easily resolved.
