Google Drive storage of PDF files *without* desktop client

Hi,

I would like to use Zotero such that all the PDFs are stored on Google Drive, but *without* using the Google Drive desktop client. (I don't mind that the Zotero Data directory would be on a local machine, but I want the storage directory contents to be on Google Drive).

Does anyone have a current solution for this?

___

I've seen various usages leveraging the Google Drive desktop client (currently Google Drive File Stream, and previously Google Drive Backup & Sync), for instance, as noted here: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/320046/#Comment_320046

But I would like to do this without using the Google Drive desktop client. Just to have links to Google Drive files in the Zotero entries, but with some automation so I don't replace every file manually with its link.

The closest thing I found is here: https://github.com/mtekman/ZoteroGoogleDrive-PDFLinker-Cloud

But it seems out of date and not functional (at least I didn't get it working, with neither Zotero 5.0 nor 4.0 on macOS).

Thanks,
Daniel

You could try to set up a WebDAV bridge with Google Drive and use Zotero’s built-in WebDAV sync function. See here https://Zotero.org/support/kB/webdav_services

But if seems like these don’t work very well. Google Drive doesn’t support the standard file sync protocol (WebDAV), so there really isn’t a good way to sync to it without using its file sync app.

In general, I recommend using Zotero File Storage or a WebDAV provider for file sync.
