Can't install Zotero in Windows 10

I cannot install Zotero after having installed Windows 10. And I have checked and the Use Unicode box is not ticked. Any ideas?

@adamsmith, this is what the message says when I click twice the .exe file:
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled Zotero?

@dstillman, thanks. I haven't done it but now I was looking for the application in my computer and it is not there, so it was probably uninstalled authomatically when I updated to Windows 10...

Yes, I have done that already, but when I open the new .exe file, I see the progress bar until 100% and then I get the error message I posted above and I cannot move further.

Meaning the installer, Zotero-5.0.71_setup.exe?

You'll probably need to talk to your IT department. The installer obviously works in general, so this is likely some sort of special configuration or restriction on your work computer.

As a temporary measure, you can also try downloading the ZIP version rather than the installer:

https://www.zotero.org/download/client/dl?channel=release&platform=win32-zip&version=5.0.71

Extract that folder somewhere and try running zotero.exe directly.

@dstillman, this works. Why did you say it is a temporary measure? Do you think I may encourter problems with this?

Because it's not fully installed that way — among other things, Zotero won't be registered for certain file types like RIS. You can get by that way, but it'd be good to ask your IT department if they can figure out why the installer won't work in your setup.

Ok, so the IT service solved the problem. I post it here in case someone else has the same problem.

Windows Security-->App & Browser Control-->Exploit protection settings-->Mandatory ASLR (Off by default)
