searching in pdf files

I tried several times to search in pdf files (after downloading pfdtotext and pdfinfo) but so far no success, not in the default search function, nor in the advanced search.

    On the search pane in your preferences what sort of statistics do you have? How many pages has Zotero indexed?

    Have you tried with PDF files that have embedded text? If you open the PDFs in Acrobat Reader or another PDF program, can you search and find text?
