Zotero connection to web browser

Everytime I try to select something that should open a web browser on my desktop Zotero (view online or any help options), Zotero does not open another window. This has only happened since the update. Any guesses what I could do?

  • What OS? Can you provide a Report ID?

    By help options, you mean, e.g., Support and Documentation in the Help menu?

    This certainly isn't a general problem, and nothing changed related to this, so it'd be something on your system. Zotero simply opens URLs via the OS's default browser.

    I did mean any support link in the Help menu won't open in a browser.
    It says no errors were reported:

    No errors have been logged since Zotero started.

    version => 5.0.71, platform => Win32, oscpu => Windows NT 6.3; WOW64, locale => en-US, appName => Zotero, appVersion => 5.0.71, extensions => Zotero LibreOffice Integration (5.0.20.SA.5.0.71, extension), Zotero Word for Windows Integration (5.0.14.SA.5.0.71, extension), Shockwave Flash (32.0.0.223, plugin)

    And I usually use Firefox.

  • Try restarting your computer, try changing the the default browser to something else and back, try temporarily disabling security software… As I say, this isn't a general problem, so you'll need to debug this on your own computer.
  • I also just realized that I cannot view the attached pdfs I have on files in my library.
  • Those should open in your default PDF viewer.

    Try closing Zotero, opening the Zotero profile directory, and deleting mimeTypes.rdf.
  • I updated my browser and restarted Zotero and my computer and everything works now! Thanks
