Needed for firewall exception: ports and information backed up

Hello,

I need a firewall exception to sync Zotero on one of my institution's computers. They need to know what ports it uses and what information is backed up to the cloud. Can someone please provide that information?

Thanks!
  • Zotero just uses standard secure web ports (i.e. 443) for sync.
It syncs everything that you see in Zotero, i.e. all metadata (anything you see in the right-hand pane, including notes) and all attached files, although you disable the latter.

Various other Zotero services use internet ports to communicate both with Zotero and third-party servers; see https://www.zotero.org/support/privacy for more. All of these are optional and/or can be disabled (as is sync, of course).

Zotero communicates with browser connectors through a local port (23119) so that should not be closed by the firewall or be whitelisted.
