Bug? Saved search displays items that no longer fit the criteria

The saved search says
Matching all of the following:
- Collection is Y
- Tag is X
- Include parent and child items of matching items

I apply tag X only to certain notes, so the search shows all the items that have a note with tag X.
I've done some maintenance and deleted quite a few notes with tag X. However, the items that these notes belonged to (and which definitely do not have tag X) still show up in the search, even after restarting Zotero.
Suggestions?

    Did you empty the trash? It's possible that it's not excluding items in the trash when using the parent/child option.

    I didn't empty the trash, because I have a tendency to remove things accidentally.

    It's not supposed to include things in the trash, right?

    Removing the deleted notes with that tag from the trash stops the parent items from showing up in the saved search, so indeed, there's an exclude missing.
