Keeping Zotero Links Working When Moving Between gDocs and Word docx
Hi,
Three questions... about if / how to keep Zotero links working when moving a single paper between gDocs and Word docx...
==Context
Just finishing a multi-author, multi-location collaboration on a paper.
To start we used gDocs with the Zotero connector (so cool, thank-you).
But at some point we had to move to Word...so we downloaded the gDoc to a .docx.
And we noticed that the gDoc citation fields appeared to have been correctly translated to Word .docx fields - cool.
But the word Zotero connected didn't recognize the fields in word.
The docx field contents are all URLs, and they do all appear unique - indicating they may still "point" to individual records in the zotero database. Here is an example of the word docx field I see: { HYPERLINK "https://www.zotero.org/google-docs/?uhquxf" \h }
Clearly this is much less info than Zotero word connector stores when it creates a field... but I do also see in the Zotero word created field the same URL!
==Questions:
(1) If we take care not to mess with the fields in word, and then we reupload the docx to gDoc... will the Zotero connector for gDocs still recognize the citations and be able to rebuild the reference list?
(2) Is there anyway to get the Zotero word connector to recognize and be able to update/edit the gDoc created citations and generate bibliography from them?
(3) If we create the original paper in Word docx and then upload and open in gDocs will the citations created by Zotero's word connector work with the Zotero gDoc connector?
Thanks for your help... isn't multi-platform life wonderful! :-)

adamsmithThere is currently no way to work on a document with Zotero integration in both google docs and Word, so no on all three counts. There are plans to make that work but it's a fairly difficult problem to solve, so no ETA.

dstillmanThis feature is almost ready.

antonyupwardWow - that's great news! Look forward to trying it out when we revise our paper!
