how to remove citation in Google Doc

I want to remove a citation from my Doc but deleting it through the Edit with Zotero function doesn't work and when I just delete the number, it does not re-number the citations or remove it from the bibliography. Any suggestions?

    After you delete the number, click the Refresh button in the Zotero menu to update the numbers and bibliography.

    I've encountered a similar problem in Microsoft Word yesterday but it's more complicated: When a citation contains only one single item and you want to delete it, whether using add/edit button or delete it directly in text, a window saying: "attempting to generate bibliography without having updated processor items" would pop up, without updating the bibliography in the end.
