Error Message with Non-Roman Characters

Hello!

Is anyone else having issues with non-Roman (English) items when trying to import them into Zotero from WorldCat Discovery? We keep getting this message:

"An error occurred saving with COinS. Attempting to save using Save as Webpage instead."

Thanks for your help!
  • Do you have a link? I think this is likely a problem with the COinS embedded, not with Zotero, which handles non-Roman characters just fine.
  • Hi adamsmith!

    The two examples I have from our catalog are: https://fuller.on.worldcat.org/oclc/981917177
    https://fuller.on.worldcat.org/oclc/276554354

    Both deal with Korean characters and aren't importing at all into Zotero. Any advice would be most helpful. Thank you!
  • I think the problem is that you're escaping the ampersands in the COinS so you have something like

    rft_val_fmt=info%3Aofi%2Ffmt%3Akev%3Amtx%3Abook&ctx_enc=info%3Aofi%2Fenc%3AUTF-8&
    instead of

    rft_val_fmt=info%3Aofi%2Ffmt%3Akev%3Amtx%3Abook&ctx_enc=info%3Aofi%2Fenc%3AUTF-8&

    This leads to Zotero getting stuck on importing (at least that's what I think is going on).
  • Good to know! Is there a way to fix this on the WorldCat side?
  • I would assume so -- COinS is correct on OpenWorldcat, for example
  • Correct - it might be something going on with the Discovery side that isn't translating the characters properly. Thank you for your time!
