Plug in for Mac Pages wordprocessor?

I'm trying to carry out a triple switch: from PC to Mac, from Endnote to Zotero, and (hopefully) from MS Word to something else. I was planning to switch to Mac Pages, but I now see there are plug ins for MS Word and for Open Office, but not for Mac Pages or for any of the other word processors I had considered -- Nisus, for example. Will there be a plug in for Pages in the near future? Should I move to the Mac version of MS Word (I was trying to escape...)? I've tried Open Office, which seems to work well, but I don't like the look of the interface, and as I have to stare at my screen for hour after hour this actually matters to me. I'd be very grateful for any advice.

FWIW, I'm surprised you have a serious issue with the OOo UI. Have you tried the latest version? Have you looked into customizing the UI?

Thanks for the very prompt and helpful responses. I was going to steer clear of Pages for the obvious reasons, and then I was shown the Full Page feature, which is exactly the environment I want (I'm the sort of crackpot who uses Q10, and would use Dark Room -- but neither do footnotes) . I will try Neo Office -- new to me, and retry Open Office, and with luck I will find something that isn't Word!

MS Word is more infuriating than an evening with Lord Monkton. Please rescue me and write a Zotero plugin for Apple Pages (iWork).

As for as I know, Apple does not provide any documentation on how to develop plugins for iWork. Also, Endnote says that their application is built into Pages, which suggests that this feature was developed at least in part by Apple.

So to get Zotero working for Pages, you should contact Apple and tell them to integrate it or provide a way to write extensions to Pages.

I just found out that papers 2 does work with Apple's Pages. This works without the need of a special plug-in for Pages. Perhaps, the Zotero developer could take a look at how Mekentosj has solved the issue with Pages?

It's closed source, but from what I understand, Papers uses a slightly more advanced version of what Zotero's RTF Scan does. http://www.zotero.org/support/rtf_scan
That's a lot easier to do if you don't have sync or co-authoring features, so you can have simple local identifiers to identify citations.
