Upgrade StorageDOI field only with certain item types?
I just started using Zotero today and so far it's great but I'm a little stymied. DOI seems to be a field available only with certain types of item types and as I'm adding PDFs or the items that have a DOI reference, there isn't a field for that information to go so I end up copying it to the notes. For example, if I add a PDF from Safari, there is no option to change the item type, so I only get a very limited number of fields. Is there any way to change this? Thanks for helping the newbie.

DOI: 10.1234/ABCDEFin the "Extra" field for items that don't have it. Once Zotero adds the field (which should happen soon-ish) it will automatically get migrated.See https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/item_types_and_fields#additional_item_types_and_fields

The PDFs from Safari should in most cases automatically add metadata, so if that never happens (and these are scholarly pieces) something may not be working correctly. Where that doesn't happen, right-click (ctrl+click) on the PDF--> Create parent item, select the correct item type and add the metadata manually.
