PDF fulltext indexing is not working at all. (XP, 2.0b4)

My system is
Windows XP, Firefox 3.0.10,
Zotero 2.0b4 & pdftotext(pdfinfo) 3.02.

For example, I saved a new item by clicking the icon in the address bar, http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/la8041082 .
Then, Zotero attached the associated PDF file. At the right pane after clicking the PDF file, I could see "Indexed: No". So, I clicked the button right next to the "Indexed: No". But, no change. Still "No".

I tried "Preference>Rebuild Index". But, Index statistics, # of unidexed, did not change & still "Indexed: No" at the PDF file.
What is wrong? All my items have the same problem.

Additionally, I think that my PDF files have no metadata such as title. I checked it using Xpdf package(pdfinfo.exe) which I downloaed manually. But, pdftotext.exe could extract the text. This file index-able, isn't it?

Please, let me know what the problem is.
Thank you for reading this.
  • For example, I created a new item from web page, http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/la8041082 .
Why? There is an ACS translator, so you could have just clicked the icon in the address bar to use that.
So, I clicked the button right next to the "Indexed: No". But, no change. Still "No"
What version of Zotero do you have & do you have the pdfutils installed in zotero? Have you opened the PDF to confirm that there is text to index (there is when you use the ACS translator, but perhaps you did not download the PDF successfully)?
I think that my PDF files have no metadata such as title.
This metadata wouldn't be used anyway.
  • 0. I actually saved the item by clicking the icon in the addr bar. I just used wrong words. Sorry.

    1. My system is Windows XP, Firefox 3.0.10,
    "Zotero 2.0b4" & "pdftotext(pdfinfo) 3.02". I installed pdfutils at the Preference menu.

    2. I double-clicked a PDF file item in the Zotero(Center panel) & checked the text to index & completion of download.

    Thank you for comments.
  • I can't replicate this. Can you report bugs and/or include any minimal and relevant debug output?
  • I found it!
While checking my debug output, I noticed that output looks strange.

    [wpdDOMSaver.init] ...
    [wpdDOMSaver.saveDocumentHTML]: C:\Documents and Settings\[wpdDOMSaver.saveDocu
    mentCSS]: C:\Documents and Settings\[wpdDOMSaver.init] ...
    [wpdDOMSaver.saveDocumentHTML]: C:\Documents and Settings\[wpdDOMSaver.saveDocu
    mentCSS]: C:\Documents and Settings\

    On Windows 2000/XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<randomstring>\zotero

My username was not English. Korean.
So, I changed my storage location like C:\Zotero, without Korean.
    It worked. Thank you!
  • I should've check this one, http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/7312/international-characters-in-usernames/#Item_0

But, this post is quite recent one, huh.
