username not set error when setting up on new PC
I have just installed Zotero desktop on a new PC running Windows 10
I installed Zotero desktop 5.0.59, and successfully logged into my account on the Zotero website using Chrome
However the same user id and password will not work when I try to set up syncing with the desktop - I get the message "You must enter your zotero.org username and password in the Zotero preferences to sync with the Zotero server" whenever I press the sync arrow.
I have tried multiple times, using both my username and the e-mail address I have registered and the password which works fine on the website (both copy and paste and typed directly, the password is all letters, no special characters)
I have tried re-booting several times, uninstalling and reinstalling the desktop programme and changing my password to a new one on the website - nothing worked.
Looking on the forum a similar problem came up some years ago but is marked as fixed.
Any ideas?

It's as I try to set the syncing preferences that I get the error - I go to the set up synicing window, enter my password and set it syncing, only to get the red exclamation mark in top right, when I click on this I get: The Zotero sync server did not accept your username and password.Please check that you have entered your zotero.org login information correctly in the Zotero sync preferences. (I have checked and checked again).
