Just curiosity: What happens when some sub-folders of storage are deleted?

What happens when some sub-folders of storage are deleted?
In DB folder there is storage folder.
If I make one item in the library, is correspondent sub-folder created?

I'm just curious...

    If you delete a 'storage' subfolder, you're deleting the attachment files for a given item as well as indexed text (which is stored in a hidden file) that's used for phrase searches.
