using zotero with a mac

I have installed zotero on my mac. However, when I tried to download the installer for use with a wordprocessor, zotero and it indicated that the install failed. When I enter the documents and try to incorporate endnotes manually the documents freeze and I have to force quit. I cannot insert a footnote or endnote. It is very frustrating and I am now reduced to removing my wordprocessor and reloading it. Any suggestions

    Which word processor?
    Which Mac OS?
    Which Zotero and which plugin did you install?
    What exactly indicated that the install failed?
    Are you aware, that the "installer" for the plugin only works for the English version of word - you need to manually install for others?
    What type of steps have you taken to de-install the word (or Ooo) plugin?
