Can't open standalone Zotero

When I try to open standalone Zotero on my Mac, I am now getting a message that says: "There was an error starting Zotero. Error(s) encountered during statement execution: database disk image is malformed...". The only thing I have changed recently was through a reset of my keychain password. Any advice about how to fix this problem? Thanks.

    That means your Zotero database is corrupt, which usually happens from putting your Zotero data directory in a cloud storage folder such as Dropbox (which Zotero warns you about), Google Drive, or similar.

    If you have your data directory in such a folder, move it out.

    To repair your database, you can try the DB Repair Tool.

    My data directory is not in a cloud storage folder, and has not been moved recently. So could it become corrupt through another means?
