OSStatus error -1743

ticket id 465548135. when trying to use zotero in word i get the error in the subject. I read on the forums that i need to type something in Terminal to prompt a permission notice of some sort but i havn't seen any such notices, not after i upgraded to Mojave nor after typing tccutil reset AppleEvents in terminal.

Would be grateful for some help.
  • Start by updating Word
  • lol. i've downgraded since zotero didnt work for office 365 2018 for mac. before Mojave zotero worked just fine.
  • Not sure what you mean there. Zotero should work fine with the latest Office 365 version. What exact version of Word are you currently running where you're having trouble?
  • Ive been using zotero with word 2011 for mac for years. Last year i've upgraded office but couldnt make zotero work with the new office so ive down graded back. Worked fine until yesterday, when i've installed mojave. So the problem isnt word but mojave. i followed the instructions in the forum which suppose (system preferences, security and privacy, privacy, automation) but there is nothing under "automation" so again, its a mojabe issue. I'm a student so get the new office for free so its not a problem to update, but as i've said, i've done it before and couldn't make zotero work. I think the problem was that the zotero toolbar in word just didnt appear no matter what i did (installed it properly). Hope its clearer now. I really like zotero and need it to work asap... thank you for trying to help!
  • I'd recommend updating to the most recent version of Word and then asking for help troubleshooting if that doesn't work -- it doesn't look like you ever did.
  • updated to word 2018 for mac. Still have the premission problem (as i've pointed out before). ticket 377554956. I was never asked to give permission in a message similar to the one here- https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/mac_word_permissions_missing.

Moreover, nothing appears under (system preferences, security and privacy, privacy, automation) so the link is, sadly, unhelpful. What i also did again was to close word and zotero, open terminal and type ' tccutil reset AppleEvents'. Nothing seemed to be happening. Closed terminal, opened zotero and word and nothing has changed- still getting the permission missing error.
  • Yes, you need to be running version 14.7.7 for Word 2011 to work with Zotero in Mojave.

i'm currently running the latest word and zotero versions.
  • What version of Word 2018? We need the exact version number, not just the year.
  • Sorry, i thought this info is part of the report. Its word for mac 16.18 (181014).
  • update- all is well. The update didnt remove the old office. once i did it manually then asked zotero to reinstall the word plug in and reopened the new word i finally got the permission question.

    Thank you for your support!!!
