Updated MacOS... Now getting errors

Does anyone have an answer to the following error?

I'm running Zotero 5.0.56 and trying to plug in a citation to Microsoft Word for Mac 2011 version 14.2.0 (120402)

"Zotero Integration Error

Zotero experienced an error updating your document.

The operation couldn't be completed. (OSStatus error -1743.) @[getDocument:application.m:83]"
  • Start by updating to 14.7.7, which is the last version of Word 2011.

If it’s still not working, this happens if you initially denied a permissions request when using the Word plugin after upgrading to Mojave. To fix this:

    1) Open System Preferences

    2) Click on “Security & Privacy”

    3) Select the “Privacy” tab

    4) Find and select “Automation” on the left

    5) Check the checkbox for “Microsoft Word” under “Terminal”

    6) Restart Word

(The next version of Zotero will provide clearer prompts for this.)
  • Firstly, thank you for the help.

Getting an error to update Word (and all Microsoft products).

"AutoUpdate cannon connect to the update server.

The server might be too busy, or there might be a problem with your network connection. Wait a few minutes and then try again."

It's not the network connection since I am still able to write this to you.
  • You should be able to download the Word update manually:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=55942

You can also try the above steps without upgrading Word, but I'm not sure this will work if you're on such an outdated version of Word 2011.
  • The update alone took care of the problem so thank you for the link.

Do you recommend I still do the rest of the directions above?

    Cheers,
  • No, if it's working there's no need for the other steps.
  • Got it.

Thank you again for all the help.

    Have a good one.
  • Hi dstillman. I chanced upon this forum entry when trying to solve my Zotero citation nightmare. Thanks for saving my life!
