    And... it works now!!! Just not in the document that I was trying it in >.< (I recently switched to zotero and had started this document using mendely - so I suspect that this specific doc has it's own library - at any rate: it works in new documents and I'll find a fix for the current one).

    Yes, existing citations created with Mendeley in a document do not update with data from Zotero.
