Unable to use Zoter on Business Source Premier

Hi, I am looking at articles on Business Source Premier....and the only option I get in the URL line is to 'Bookmark this page'......Zotero is not registering?

The page I am looking at is:
http://web.ebscohost.com/bsi/detail?vid=8&bk=1&hid=103&sid=69e92ec5-54e4-4f4e-8509-278154d2312d%40sessionmgr102&bdata=JnNpdGU9YnNpLWxpdmU%3d#db=buh&AN=37574349

I have only just downloaded Firefox and Zotero a week ago.

Other databases such as 'Science Direct' show a folder icon 'save to Zotero' which allows me to save such articles...... any ideas please?
  • A fix to the EBSCO translator was added last night. Your copy of Zotero should auto-update within 24 hours, or you can update manually by clicking Update Now in the General pane of the Zotero prefs. You can reach the preferences from the Actions drop-down menu, accessible by clicking the gear icon in the Zotero toolbar.
  • Thanks Tjowens.

However, I'm still not having any luck. When Business Source Premier lists a number of articles I have searched for, I now see a folder icon in the URL line. Clicking on this comes up with the error 'Could not save item. An error occured while saving this item. Check Known Translator Issues for more information.'

Please advise if you know of a fix for this? Thankyou.
  • Ebsco business premier search/multiple import works fine for me,
as does the linked to citation above.
Which other FF extensions do you have installed?
If you want to troubleshoot, try running FF with all other extensions disabled.
Can you give me a search term and the results you select to try out?

You do know that there is a workaround (if you need things to work right now) by selecting the "Use Zotero for downloaded RIS/Refer files" options in the preferences-general tab of Zotero and then just export to endnote. This is clearly a second best, but still better than getting frustrated.

Strange.....not sure why this is causing me so many problems....i don't really want to use endnote, but can do if I have to.

I've just tried again and am still getting the same error message. I did a full text search on 'outsourcing critical success factors' and on the results page for example i click on the folder icon in the URL line and it comes up with a list of all of the articles on that page. I select 'BEYOND EXPECTATIONS: AN EXAMINATION OF LOGISTICS OUTSOURCING GOAL ACHIEVEMENT AND GOAL EXCEEDANCE.' and then I get the error. Same error occurs on all articles.

    Here's the URL details: http://web.ebscohost.com/bsi/resultsadvanced?vid=2&hid=106&sid=1df6da07-a2d1-41c9-b04d-276fe3b2d6a1%40sessionmgr109&bquery=(outsourcing+AND+critical+AND+success+AND+factors)&bdata=JmRiPWJ1aCZkYj1lNmgmY2xpMD1GVCZjbHYwPVkmdHlwZT0xJnNpdGU9YnNpLWxpdmU%3d

If I go into the article from the results page I do not get the option to copy to zotero (no folder icon on URL line).

I'm not a great whizz on this yet - so how do I tell what extensions I have installed? and how do I disable all other extensions?

Is there anyway I can show a screenshot?

    Thanks,
  • OK - thanks for the URL -
I can reproduce the error exactly as described by you.
    Reported as Error ID: 1405398741

Note that for the workaround I describe above, you are NOT using endnote - you are just exporting your citation _as if_ you were using endnote, but then getting it into Zotero. This will happen automatically if you have the Zotero preference set to do that.

This is not relevant at the moment, but to know which add-ons you have and to disable them, look at Tools -> Add-ons in Firefox.
