remove article titles

I am trying to edit a citation style so that the article titles are not listed, but the titles for books and patents etc. are retained. How would I have to edit the command line to accomplish this? I figure if I delete out sections of "titles" I might also get rid of the ones I need. Thanks a ton!

Science and Nature both do this for example. What style are you trying to work with generally? Are you submitting to a specific journal?

I was trying to edit the ACS style because I saw that other related journals styles, while having a separate citation style file, were identical except for ACIE. Nature and Science don't quite have the formatting we need.

Are you sure that you want to remove the titles? ACS publications do ask that authors submit manuscripts with the full title included--the title is removed by the typesetters, but it is used to properly link references with CrossRef and other databases.

Yes, we wanted to remove them for internal purposes, not for a journal article submission. I can try and figure something out by looking at the various styles.

You will want to change the style title and id in that file so it doesn’t get overwritten by the official Zotero style.
