[Closed] Zotero Groups - Could not save item

Hi,
I've set up a group library and I can see either the yellow folder or the the grey icon to save items - but when I try I get the "could not save item" error message.
Regards, Jon.

OK this seems fine now, Thanks. Jon.
  • I am guessing this was a private group? Since private group's are only viewable by group members we should probably just not show the folder icon.

  • yes it was a private group - I changed it, and the folder icon appeared. I'm not so sure that your suggestion is the best way to go though. If I have a student who (for whatever reason) still wants to use Zotero 1.010, but is a member of my group, shouldn't they be able to capture citations in the normal way (i.e. through the folder icon), as opposed to syncing and updating their group folder? I'm guessing Zotero isn't about to leave beta in the next few weeks?

    Regards, Jon.
  • We'll add a screen scraping mode for private groups for 1.0 clients.

I saw the zotero.org.js translator a while ago & meant to comment. Why do this, instead of using standards on the server-side? This isn't the long-term solution, right?

Right. Just a temporary lossless solution. The real solution is probably RDFa and BIBO or an embedded link to an RDF file served via content negotation, but we're still working on a Zotero-to-BIBO mapping.

    Edit at will.

Obviously this yet doesn't cover fields, which are, you know, the hard part.

    Thanks Dan, that'd be great.
