It is very helpful to have such a button.
For me, it is even more convenient than to have an exposed option in preference setting.
What's even better is the capability to integrate this feature into the right-click menu of collection, to set each collection with different "recursive" capability. In this case, a new icon is needed.
The logical for subcollections can be simplified: setting of "Recursive" or "non-Recursive" has no effect on all subcollsections; but add "set all subcollections Recursive" and "set all subcollections non-Recursive".
I have at most three-level subcollections, rarely use a four-level one. I suppose this logic works fine for me.

That's a sweet plan! Surely other guys will have more options they want to expose to the "View". Can you share some more details? Do you have a specific timeline for that?
