OSX Zotero - Search pane w/o PDF installer/option
Hi folks,
i am running Zotero 5.0.45 on an OSX 10.13.4 (17E199).
I was puzzled why my PDFs won't get indexed. I googled and found the advice to install PDF tools via Preferences > Search pane. As I did on a matching Windows machine.
But in OSX there is no such PDF option. If I could, I would post a screenshot.
Please see the matching advice on https://www.zotero.org/support/pdf_fulltext_indexing
I downloaded the XPDF tools and moved them as suggested.
pdfinfo version 4.00 and pdftotext version 4.00 are in the Zotero Data path.
With the pdf shell script from the advice website.
PDF tools in Zotero data path are executable.
Somebody can help?
Many thanks in advance.

Can you provide a Debug ID for adding a PDF that you think should be indexed but isn't?
(de)Bug ID is 749712069.

but searching for a word from the indexed pdf does not provide any matching search results...
@adamsmith: I simply put in my search phrase or keyword in the very field.
@dstillman: It is set to "Everything". Search takes rather long; but does not display the (intended) article. In this case intended as I am trying to validate...
If you add this PDF, 2) wait a few seconds for it to retrieve metadata and index the PDF, and 3) search for "computationally" in Everything mode, are saying it doesn't find the result? If not, can you provide a Debug ID for all of that?
But what puzzles me: Some PDFs (with plain text (copy+paste-able; no scanned or ocr'ed or no DRM or no CopyProtection) don't. Does it need to "dive" in deeper in the world of PDFs?
No matter what: Sorry to bother and thanks for taking care. Appreciate this.
Then we'd have to see a Debug ID for one that doesn't work, including the saving and the search. The Debug ID you shared above shows the file being indexed, but it doesn't show what you're searching for.
