Deleting items from collections and library at the same time/ improving velocity

hello,
I am a new users and I don't know a lot about how these programs works.
I downloaded Zotero and I've been using it since a week. Now it's starting to get really slow for deleting documents and importing new ones. I have quite a lot of papers but I don't need all of them, I wanted to know if I can delete at the same time documents from collections and from the library and if there is something I can do to speed it up.
Thanks for the help
  • Now it's starting to get really slow for deleting documents and importing new ones.
Could you say more about that? What's slow, exactly, and how long are we talking? How many items do you have?
I wanted to know if I can delete at the same time documents from collections and from the library
Not sure exactly what you're asking here, but if you delete an item from the library root, you're removing it from your library, including all collections. If you want to delete a collection and items together, you can right-click on the collection and select "Delete Collection and Items…".
  • Sure! So in the library there are 2500 items at the moment. The importing is super slow it takes more then 10 minutes for importing 100 items and also it takes 20 seconds to delete an item from a collection.
I am using it to find relevant titles so I need to go through the titles as fast as possible.

Concerning the second question I want to delete a single item from a collection and from the library at the same time but starting from a collection and not from the library.

    Thank you for the time

That doesn't sound right at all. Can you provide a Debug ID for a delete that takes 20 seconds?

How many items are in your trash?

  • 1. Importing how/from where?
If you're deleting a lot of items, have you emptied your Zotero trash?
Could you produce a debug ID that covers removing an item from a collection?

    2. can be done using right-click --> Move item(s) to trash. There's also a keyboard shortcut that varies by operating system. I believe it's shift+delete on Windows/Linux and Cmd+delete on Mac, but not sure

  • 1: D1318440995 . Not sure this is what you asked. Anyway the I deleted to items, the problem is to go from the first to the second. ( It wasn't so slow at the beginning that's why I am asking for help).
I have already emptied my trash.

    2. Thank you, perfect!
  • Oh sorry, I am importing from Embase, ris. format but it worked super well until today but I think that the problem should be the amount of articles or something similar.
