Upgrade StorageProblem: Syncing from backup to account

I was trying to use Zotfile today and things went wrong. I had a backup, which still works fine if I deactivate the syncing function. However, If I try to sync, Zotero understands that the online version of my library is more recent and changes the files in my laptop accordingly (recreating the mess I did with Zotfile). To make things worse, I tried to delete my whole online library, but now when I sync Zotero simply overwrites my local library with an empty one.
Is it possible to have Zotero sync from my laptop to the online library? It still works fine offline, but I use other computers to write.
