Handling endnote exports : uml_view.cgi

When I try and use the download option in ISI Web of Knowledge,
(after searching the Web of Science database) I am presented with
the dialog "You have chosen to open uml_view.cgi ...."
When EndNote is handling the import (ie I have unchecked the
"use Zotero for downloaded EndNote files" box in Preferences)
the file is handled by "Web Export Helper" and EndNote then
starts up and imports the references.
Is there any way to get Zotero to handle the uml_view.cgi file ?

    Barring ISI modifying their server or Zotero being modified to catch the filename/mimetype WoS spits out, the work around is to save the file & manually import it.

    An example of the file is given below. It doesn't seem to import as it is (no translator), do I need to rename it?
    Perhaps the EndNote import process includes an additional translator?

    PS it may be useful to know the file was saved with a .ciw extension.
    ie uml_view.cgi.ciw .

    Paul, the "ISI Export Format" you posted is specific to ISI Web of Science and requires a dedicated importer which (AFAIK) Zotero currently does not support. However, my copy of Zotero *does* actually sense and import records displayed in ISI Web of Knowledge -- as is also mentioned at the Zotero translators page). Have you tried importing records via the Zotero icon displayed in your browser's location bar?

    If you really need to import an ISI export file, you'd probably need to use a third-party tool (such as Endnote or Bibutils) to convert this format into something that Zotero understands (e.g. BibTeX, Endnote, RIS or MODS XML).

    Thanks for the reply.
    Yes.. I can pick up references as you suggest from the search results page
    and I'll see how I get on with this. I would suggest a translator for ISI Export
    format would be handy for handling large batches of references built up using
    the marked list feature, though.
    I have also managed to export them to RIS but I had to go via EndNoteWeb
    to do this (I couldn't find any of the supported options within the ISI WoS
    system itself), it was because this was rather slow that I asked about the
    direct download. I'll look at bibutils.
