How to change Footnote Numbers from Displaying in Superscript in Chicago

My inline citations are in superscript arabic numerals. But in the footnotes the citation number is also in superscript, and in Chicago it is supposed to be inline: eg. 1.

How do I change this? I am using MS Word for Mac 2011 and the latest version of Zotero.
  • Unfortunately this is not possible in MS Word -- there's no setting to change the footnote anchor character separately from the one that appears in the text. LibreOffice does allow this.

That said, the Chicago Manual is pretty clear on the fact that it doesn't think authors should worry about the details of typesetting such as this as long as the footnotes are consistent.
