Sync not working
Hi, I have just installed Zotero on my new laptop but for some reason, it does not sync most of my attached files. Interestingly enough the ones that appear with a pdf file thumbnail will sync fine, but the ones that have the "link" thumbnail don't.

so Sing et all does not sync, and I get the "f
However, those are still all saved in a zotero folder und documents/zotero folder as pdf files.
A folder I do not find on my new laptop anywhere.
Any suggestions?
I would rather not have to reattach a hundred or so files.

Upgrade Storage
The white ones with the chain are linked files that are stored outside of your Zotero data directory (or should be), and Zotero doesn't sync those.
In that case the following steps would work
1. On the _old_ computer, the "Relative Link Attachment Base Directory" to the documents/zotero folder
2. Sync
3. Copy the document/zotero folder to your new computer
4. The the relative link base directory on that computer to that folder
5. The files should now work on both computers
6. If you want to turn those links back into attachments stored within Zotero, install the ZotFile addon from zotfile.com
7. Set up "Store as attachments" in the ZotFile preferences under file location and then use manage attachments --> rename attached files to convert links to attachments.
But I don't quite follow your instructions.
Is the "Relative Link Attachment Base Directory" a single file?
I used a bit of a dirty method. I just copied all these pdf files into Zotero again, looked for the metadata and fused the duplicates. That being said, doesn't work so well if there is no metadata.
The second part with zotfile works. Thanks
I ll give it a try.
