  • Which style are you using, and does this occur when you add a citation to an empty document?
  • If I open an older version of the document, or a new document, then I can work normally. The problem is that one day the work is gone. I write with Times New Roman, did you mean that?
  • Many changes and citation that I have inserted today would have to be found out and re-inserted.
  • The Zotero citation style (Chicago, Vancouver, etc). (From the error report, it may be a style that is bound to the German language.)
  • Chicago manuel of style 17.edition (note)
  • Hello fbennett, thanks for the help. I inserted another citation style, after which Zotero worked again. 1000 thanks
  • Does it continue to work when you switch back to Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition (note)?
  • Ok, I was wrong, it does not work. I wrote hectically in the version from yesterday. It does not work to change the citation style. It must be at the setting of the last saved document.

Here are steps for fixing a broken document.

  • ok, I found the error in the document. The method was, as suggested, the constant halving of the document as described in the forum. Thank you.
  • Very good news that it's back and working for you. Any idea what was wrong in the reference that triggered the error?
  • I think it was because I changed an author after I added the citation.
  • Many thanks. I'll play around and see if I can reproduce the error -- things certainly shouldn't crash on you like that in normal operation.
