Zotero 5.0.35.1 integration error with Word 16.10.

When I try to create a note in a new Word document and use zotero for it, I get the following message:
The operation could not be completed. (OSStatus error -1728.) @ [InsertFieldRaw: document.m: 1346]
What I can do?
  • Start by submitting a Report ID.
  • ID de Informe: 11484340290
  • (Corrected Report ID: 1148340290)
  • Does it help if you go into Zotero Preferences -> Cite -> Word Processors and reinstall the Word plugin?
  • The problem remains the same. The message he gives me in a new Word document when I insert an appointment with Zotero is: The operation could not be completed. (OSStatus error -1728.) @ [InsertFieldRaw: document.m: 1346]
    The ID is: 831693230
    Thank you

  • Could you produce a Debug ID from Zotero?

    1. In the Help menu, go to Debug Output Logging and select Enable.
    2. Attempt to add a citation in Word
    3. Before doing anything else, return to Help → Debug Output Logging and click Submit Output, which will disable logging and submit the output to zotero.org. A window should pop up containing a Debug ID. Click “Copy to Clipboard” and paste the Debug ID into this forum thread.

  • The problem of zotero is not only with Wordoffice, by the way I have sent the identifier and everything has been there. The problem, as I said, is presented to me with both Openoffice and Libreoffice. If it continues like this, I will reflect on the usefulness of it for my work, because if I can not quote, what is the bibliographic manager, or better in reality, what is it for?
  • Sorry, I missed your response. Do you see this in a new document? If so, what are the steps to reproduce the issue?

When I try to create a note in a new Word document and use zotero for it, the following message appears:
The operation could not be completed. (OSStatus error -1728.) @ [InsertFieldRaw: document.m: 1346]
What can I do? The ID is the number quoted above. The text that I have copied is the same one that heads this thread of the forum, the first one, since the problem remains the same.
Regarding LibreOffice it does not accept the integration. Openoffice yes, but it does not insert the note, it does not do anything.
In foin, that's why I wonder what it's for.
  • Let's focus on Word issues here. The LibreOffice issues are unlikely to be related, but you can start a separate forum thread for them and we can try to help.

What citation style do you use? If you change to a different footnote style or select endnotes instead do you still get the error?
  • Thanks adomasven.
The style is Chicago note, with the bibliography at the end. The footnote is the footnote, not the end of the page, since the editor imposes it on me, I can not put the notes at the end of the article.
  • If you insert the footnote manually from within Word and then try to insert the citation within the footnote, do you still see this issue?
  • Thank you again adomasven.
I have tried two modes. Make the footnote with Word, footnote, and placing the course in the body of the note, not in the text, Zotero works and performs the note normally. If I open the note with Zotero in the body of the text, I delete the zeros that appear when making the note in the text, and I place the course within the body of the note, it works also, as in the previous case. So, problem resuleto, But this means that something does not work in the integration of Zotero with Word.
In any case, thank you very much for the help, so I can finish the work. Thank you.

  • Recognizing and thanking the help of adomasven, thank you. Bear ask, when will the question be resolved definitively? since the solution is clearly a patch, but it does not allow to perform the operation in a normal way, it is to dedicate as it was done before. If someone can answer me, I appreciate it. I understand that these are not easy issues, but I would like the situation to be clarified.
  • There are a few reports of this issue, but we are unable to reproduce it ourselves and nobody has provided steps to reproduce it, so it is impossible to debug. We have had reports from previous users that changing to a different user account on the Mac actually solves the problem, so it might be related to some user-account specific settings. There is no timeline for solution currently.
