Chicago Manual of Style: Subsequent Citations
Good day,
I am using Chicago Manual of Style of 17th edition (full note) in Zotero. I am able to open the ‘Style Editor’ window and make changes, but I can’t seem to save or implement them into my document.
I would like all my citations to be footnotes,
1. The first citation is to read:
Gregg Allison, Historical Theology: An Introduction to Christian Doctrine (Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 2011).
2. Thereafter the citations should read, and this is the where the problem is, it only cites as ‘Allison’:
Allison, Historical Theology.
3. Bibliography
Allison, Gregg. Historical Theology: An Introduction to Christian Doctrine. Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 2011.
Your assistance and suggestions would be appreciated.
Many thanks,
Rob

I'd be pretty sure if you have
1. Gregg Allison, Historical Theology: An Introduction to Christian Doctrine (Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 2011).
2. Some other footnote
3. Allison, Historical Theology
(that's "subsequent") that'll work out how you want it. However, in line with the Manual's 17th edition, if you you have
1. Gregg Allison, Historical Theology: An Introduction to Christian Doctrine (Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 2011).
2. Allison
is correct. If you want Allison, Historical Theology in this second ("ibid") scenario too, you could just use SBL style, which is otherwise similar to Chicago and does that. If you really want to work with a custom style, see
https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/citation_styles/style_editing_step-by-step
on getting it back into Zotero. Pay close attention on changing ID and renaming.
