BASOR (Bulletin of the American Oriental Schools of Research) Style
I am interested in using a style that does not appear in the Zotero CSL repository - BASOR (http://www.asor.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/BASORContributorInstructions.pdf). The biggest problem is the fact that the bibliography is supposed to have the author(s) by themselves on a line and then the year on the line followed by a blank space and then the entry. The closest style that I can find is American Antiquity - but the spacing is not quite right and the publisher and location are inverted. Any help on this would be much appreciated.
The exact spacing may not be possible, though
I wrote the following there:
However, I do see several issues with the format related to journal articles.
The journal name should not be abbreviated or shortened.
The volume number should not be in italics.
The punctuation following the volume number should be a ":" not a ","
Thus the current version (below):
Hisakata, R.; Nishida, S.; and Johnston, A.
2016 An adaptable metric shapes perceptual space. Curr Biol 26, 1911–1915.
Should be the following:
Hisakata, R.; Nishida, S.; and Johnston, A.
2016 An adaptable metric shapes perceptual space. Current Biology 26: 1911–1915.
Also - I am not sure if this is possible or not - but foreign language is particularly important for this style. If possible it would helpful to add a parenthesis at the end when the language is not English. For example:
Hisakata, R.; Nishida, S.; and Johnston, A.
2016 An adaptable metric shapes perceptual space. Current Biology 26: 1911–1915 (French).
Hi,
Let's keep the discussion here, in one place, particularly because the notification function on GitHub doesn't work anymore.
Try this style: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/POBrien333/styles/5f6673505fa58d5ce85ddfdc76855833fbce85d8/bulletin-of-the-american-schools-of-oriental-research.csl
In terms of the language, doable for sure. What's the best way of doing this, bwiernik and Adam?
One other thing I noticed - in the bibliography - author(s) with multiple works cited should be suppressed under the same author(s).
For example:
Bliss, F. J.
1900a First Report on the Excavations at Tell Ej-Judeideh. Palestine Exploration Quarterly 32: 87-101.
Bliss, F. J.
1900b Second Report on the Excavations at Tell Ej-Judeideh. Palestine Exploration Quarterly 32: 199-222.
Should be:
Bliss, F. J.
1900a First Report on the Excavations at Tell Ej-Judeideh. Palestine Exploration Quarterly 32: 87-101.
1900b Second Report on the Excavations at Tell Ej-Judeideh. Palestine Exploration Quarterly 32: 199-222.
How do I get them to group like that?

Can you test this? https://github.com/POBrien333/styles/raw/ccb892ebcc565976a95e2c68dc52b6c700e394d3/bulletin-of-the-american-schools-of-oriental-research.csl
The new style has been signed off by Adam and is now available via the repository: https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:bulletin-of-the-american-schools-of-oriental-research
Although I noticed a couple of glitches - one big one - the order of references in the bibliography is not chronological - for example a reference from 2015 will be before a reference from 2009 in the bibliography. Also - references by the same author(s) from the same year should have an "a" and a "b" attached to the end. Right now (using an example from 2009) it will list a reference as (Author 2009a; and b).
Could you upload a .pdf of a current publication in BASOR and post a link here?
