Unable to attach stored copy of file

I've tried attaching pdfs to items in my standalone zotero application, and through the web uploader, and neither option is working.
In the desktop app, the only option available is "attach link to URI," the other two options
"attached stored copy of file" and "attach link to file" are grayed out. When I try to attach a file through the online library, it times out.
I've checked for updates, and re-synced. Beyond that I'm not sure what to do. Help!

    Seems like you're trying this for a group that either doesn't allow file sharing or where you don't have the requisite permission to add/edit files.

    Ok, I fixed the issue by enabling file editing in the group settings. I'm the group owner of this and many groups, and have never had to manually do this.

    Not sure, but I'd guess that if the group is switched from public (which doesn't allow file syncing) to private, file editing remains off unless you change it.

    @dstillman That solved my issue, thank you! It even allowed me to enable saving PDFs from browser as well now.
