Report ID: 1028115283

Hi,
Not sure what happened, but Zotero plugin for Chrome has suddenly started to attempt to associate all websites with the Open University proxy.
I cannot reproduce the situation, basically because I cannot stop it in the first place!
I hope the report errors are of some help, I really don't know what I can add otherwise.
Kind regards,
Geoff
  • You can start by disabling the automatic proxy redirection in the Connector preferences (right-click on the connector icon in Chrome).
  • Thanks Adam, that's stopped it attempting to proxy my email for a good start!

I'll try removing the connector and reinstalling it again to see if that makes any difference.
  • no, don't do that, there's no point. Once proxy redirection is turned off, it shouldn't do anything anymore -- are you saying you still see anything being proxied?
  • No, it stopped the proxying, but I wanted to see if I could stop it happening when the proxy redirection was turned on.

So I removed the connector, clear cache, shutdown chrome and started up again.

I've now reinstalled the connector, and it seems to be behaving itself once more.

Of course I now realise that I've deleted anything that might have held an indication as to why it happened: I apologise for that… just a little overenthusiastic I guess whilst trying to get an assignment finished.

One last thing that may be relevant, I'm on Linux (Ubuntu 16.04.3LTS) using Chome Version 64.0.3282.119 (Official Build) (64-bit) and LibreOffice 5.1.6.2. Just in case it comes up again. :)

    Kind regards,
    Geoff
  • Could you go to connector Preferences -> Advanced -> Config Editor, copy the entry for proxies.proxies and paste it here? If it contains sensitive information, like your university name or sensitive website names, you can X them out.
  • Long string coming up… nothing sensitive (other than the id) that I can see, I've already said that I'm studying at the Open University, so no surprise seeing that in there. ;)
